NOTE: SECC will register a team or teams for NAQP SSB, the weekend
after this weekend. This is also the weekend of the Huntsville hamfest.
So far, I have N4OO FT, NJ8J FT, K4BAI FT, and KY4GS PT. Team members
do not have to be members of SECC or reside in any particular
geographical area. If you can be on a team, please e-mail me ASAP and
tell me whether you will be part time or full time. Also, I will assume
you will be low power (there is no high power category) unless you tell
me QRP. Note there there is a new rules change effective this year that
creates a new category of Singe Op Assisted. So, if you like to operate
assisted, you can be in that new category and you can still be on a
team. High power stations are check logs only and there is also a M/2
class, but they cannot be on a team. I will register the team(s) late
Friday or Saturday before the start of the contest. If you need to
e-mail me after about 5 PM Friday, please use this address:
k4bai at ku8e.com as I don't routinely get messages sent to this .att
address at home.

This Week's Contests"
1. QRP Fox Hunt. 0100-0230Z Friday (Thursday night local date). Two
QRP foxes will be calling between 14050 and 14070 kHz. They are: N4FP,
WAYNE, FL. and NR3Z, MARTY, PA. Exchange: RST, SPC, Name, Power. 5W
max power. Work only the two foxes and do not spot their frequencies.
Foxes usually start out sending "UP" and listening up 1 to 1 1/2 kHz.
After the pile up dies down, most will then stop sending "UP" and will
be listening close to their transmit frequency.
2. NCCC RTTY Sprint. Every Friday, 0145-0215Z (Thursday night local
date). 15, 20, 40, 80, 160M RTTY. 100W max power. One/one kHz QSY
rule. Exchange: both calls, #, name, SPC. Same band dupes OK after one
intervening QSO. Look around 080-090 kHz on the higher bands and up
from 1805 kHz on top band.
3. NCCC NS Sprint. Every Friday 0230-0259Z (Thursday night local date).
15, 20, 40, 80, 160M CW. 100W max power. One/one kHz QSY rule.
Exchange: both calls, #, name, SPC. No same band dupes permitted. Look
around 040-046 kHz on the higher bands and up from 1815 kHz on top band.
4. KRC K1USN Slow Speed Test (SST). Every Friday, 2000-2100Z. 160-10M
CW. Exchange: Name + SPC. Mults (SPC) count per band. Max speed 20
WPM. Look around 029 to 052 kHz on each band and around 1820 kHz on 160M.
5. Worked All Europe (WAE) DX Contest, CW. 48 hours of weekend UTC.
80-10M CW. Exchange: RST + serial #. Max operating time for single
ops 36 hours with minimum one hour off time. There is a QTC feature. A
station outside Europe may send messages consisting of the time, call,
and # received up to 10 QTCs to any one European station. You can still
fun and not do QTCs, but most of the logging programs make sending QTCs
pretty easy and it will improve your score dramatically.
6. Straight Key Century Club Week End Sprintathon (WES). 1200Z Sat to
2359Z Sun. Max operating time 24 hours. 160-6M CW. Use a mechanical
key. Exchange: RST, SPC, Name, SKCC# or "NONE." Look around 050 to
065 kHz on the higher bands and around 1820 kHz on 160M. Probably
around 50090 kHz on 6M.
7. Maryland - District of Columbia QSO Party. 1400Z Sat to 0400Z Sun.
160-2M + 432 mHz CW, PH, Dig. Exchange: Entry Class (fixed home
stations are Standard (STD). Bonus points for at least one QSO with W3VPR.
8. FISTS Club Saturday Sprint. 1600-1800Z Sat. 80-10M CW. Max power
100W. Exchange: RST + Name + FISTS # or "0" + SPC. Key FISTS
frequencies are up 058 kHz.
9. 50 MHz Fall Sprint. 2300Z Sat to 0300Z Sun. 6M any mode. Exchange:
4 character grid square. I hope there will be some six meter openings
during this period. FT8FT4 operators, at least, should be able to make
some QSOs.
10. 4 States QRP Group Second Sunday Sprint. 0000-0200Z Monday (Sunday
night local date). Max power: 5W CW, 10W SSB. 160-10M CW, SSB.
Exchange: RS(T) + PSC + 4S # or power. Most activity is usually on or
near 14060, 7122, and 3564 kHz. Have never seen a SSB QSO reported in
this one. After 0100Z (when the SST is over), it might be possible to
make some 40M QSOs around 7040 kHz, but most 40M activity is still on or
near 7122 kHz.
11. KRC K1USN Slow Speed Test (SST). Every Monday 0000-0100Z (Sunday
night local date). See #4 above.
12. ICWC Medium Speed Tests (MST). Every Monday/Tuesday. Three
separate one-hour tests. 1300Z and 1900Z Monday and 0300Z Tuesday.
Exchange: Name + QSO#. Maximum speed 25 WPM.
13. CWOps Club CWT Tests. Every Wed/Thursday. Four separate one-hour
tests. 1300Z and 1900Z Wed and 0300Z and 0700Z Thursday. 160-10M CW.
Exchange: Name + CWOps # or SPC. Look around 023 to 053 kHz on the
higher bands and up from 1815 kHz on 160M.
14. Flying Pigs QRP Group 20M Walk for the Bacon. 0000-0100Z Thursday
(Wed night local date) and 0200-0300Z Friday (Thursday night local).
Exchange: RST, SPC, Power, Name. 5W max power. 13 WPM max speed. Most
activity is between 14060 and 14070 kHz.
15. NTC (Netherlands Telegraph Club) QSO Party. 1900-2000 Thursday of
next week. 80, 40, and 20M CW. Exchange: RST + NCC# or "NM." NM
means non-member. More points for QSOs with PG6NTC.
Hope everyone has a nice week and week end and a lot of QSOs. 73, John,
K4BAI, for SECC.
