This Week's Contests:
1. QRP Fox Hunt. Friday 0100-0230Z (Thursday night local date). 20M
CW. 5W max power. Two QRP foxes will be calling between 14050 and
14070 kHz. They are K0DTJ, BRIAN, CA and KB9LLD, TONY, MO. This is the
last 20M Summer Session hunt of the year. Exchange: RST, SPC, Name,
Power. Work only the two QRP foxes and do not spot their frequencies.
Foxes usually start out sending "UP" and listening up 1 to 2 kHz. After
the pile up dies down, many foxes will stop sending "UP" and will be
listening near their own trnasmit frequency.
2. NCCC RTTY Sprint. Every Thursday night local date. 0145-0215Z
Friday. 15, 20, 40, 80, 160M RTTY. 100W max power. One/one kHz QSY
rule. Same band dupes OK after one intervening QSO. Exchange: both
calls, #, name, SPC. Look around 080-090 kHz on the higher bands and up
from 1805 kHz on top band.
3. NCCC NS Sprint. Every Thursday night local date. 0230-0259Z
Friday. 15, 20, 40, 80, 160M CW. 100W max power One/one kHz QSY rule.
No same band dupes permitted. Exchange: both calls, #, name, SPC. This
is excellent practice for the semi-annual North American Sprint
Contests, the next of which will be local date Sat Sept 10. The rules
for this weekly practice session are virtually identical to the real NA
Sprint rules except that the NA Sprint allows high power and the QSY
rule is 5/1 instead of 1/1. That means after you have worked a station
who called you, you must move at least 5 kHz to call CQ again and at
least one kHz to call another station. For the NS Sprint, look around
040-045 kHz on the higher bands and up from 1815 kHz on top band. Note
that KU8E will register "Southeast Sprint Coalition" Teams for the NA
Sprint and SECC will not have it's own teams sesparate from the
Coalition teams. Contact KU8E if you can be on a team for NA Sprint CW.
4. KRC K1USN Slow Speed Test (SST). Every Friday. 2000-2100Z. 160-10M
CW. Max speed 20 WPM. Exchange: Name + SPC. Mults count per band.
Look around 029 to 052 kHz on the higher bands and around 1820 kHz on
top band.
5. ARRE EME (Earth-Moon-Earth) Contest. 48 hours of weekend UTC dates.
2.3 gHZ and up. CW, Ph, Dig. Exchange: "signal report."
6. Hawaii QSO Party. 0400Z Sat to 0400Z Mon. 160-20M CW, PH, Dig.
Exchange: RS(T) + S/P or Hawaii District Abbreviation.
7. YO (Romania) DX HF Contest . 1200Z Sat to 1200Z Sun. 80-10M CW.
Exchange: RS(T) + serial # or YO county abbreviation. Work everyone.
In determining multipliers, YO does not count also as a country.
8. World Wide Digi DX Contest. 1200Z Sat to 1200Z Sun. 160-10M FT4/8.
Exchange: 4 character grid square.
9. Kansas QSO Party. 1400Z Sat to 0200Z Sun; 1400-2000Z Sun. 80-6M
CW, SSB, Dig. Digi includes FT8. Exchange: RS(T) + S/P/DX or KS
county abbreviation. Bonus station is KS0KS. There will be a lot of
special event one-by-one calls QRV from KS and a number of mobiles
including N0AC/M. Sponsors expect activity from every KS county.
10. Ohio QSO Party. 1600Z Sat to 0400Z Sun. 160-10M CW, SSB.
Exchange: RS(T) + S/P/DX or Ohio county abbreviation. Sponsors hope to
have activity from every county with only 4 counties not yet commited at
last report. There should be a number of Ohio mobiles QRV.
11. CVA (Brazil) DX Contest, SSB. 2100Z Sat to 2100Z Sun. 160-10M
SSB. Exchange: RS + "type" or UF (Brazil county). Types include YL,
QRP, CVA, HQ, MIL, FD, DX, etc. "DX" would be sent by most US stations
whose operators are not YLs or QRP.
12. KRC K1USN Slow Speed Test (SST). Monday 0000-0100Z (Sunday evening
local date). See #4 above.
13. ICWC Medium Speed Test (MST). Every Monday/Tuesday. Three
separate one-hour medium speed tests. 1300Z and 1900Z Mondays and
0300Z. Tuesdays. 160-10M CW. Exchange: Name + QSO #. Look around
030 to 045 kHz on the higher bands and lower on top band. Maximum
speed: 25 WPM.
14. CWOps Club CWT Tests. Every Wed/Thurs. Four separate one-hour
tests. 1300Z and 1900Z Wed and 0300Z and 0700Z Thur. 160-10M CW.
Exchange: Name + CWOps # or SPC. Look around 023 and 052 kHz on the
higher bands and up from 1815 kHz on 160M.
15. Straight Key Century Club = Europe Sprint (SKS-E). 1900-2100Z
Thursday. 160-6M CW. Exchange: RST, SPC, Name, SKCC# or "NONE." Use
a mechanical key. On the higher bands look around 049 to 065 kHz and
lower on 160M and higher on 6M.
16. G3ZQS Memorial Straight Key Contest. 2300Z Thursday to 2300Z Sat.
G3ZQS was the founder of the FISTS CW Club and the call suggested is "CQ
FS." 80-10M CW. Exchange: RST + SPC + Name + FISTS# or power. Use a
straight key. FISTS activities are usually around 058 kHz on each band.
Hope everyone has a nice week and weekend and a lot of QSOs. Remember
to let me know if you can be on a SECC team for the CW Open the
following weekend.
73, John, K4BAI, for SECC.
