This Week's Contests:
1. QRP Fox Hunt 80M. Tonight, Thursday, local date. 0200-0330Z
Friday. Two QRP Foxes will be calling between 3550 and 3570 kHz. They
are K4BAI, JOHN, GA and N9EP, ED, IL. You should be able to work both
of them from around here unless we have long skip. Exchange: RST, SPC,
Name, Power. Maximum power 5W. Work only the two foxes and do not spot
their frequencies.
2. NCCC RTTY Sprint. Every Thursday night local date. 0145-0215Z
Friday. 15, 20, 40, 80, 160M RTTY. Maximum power: 100W. One/one kHz
QSY rule. Exchange: both calls, #, name, SPC. Same band dupes OK
after one intervening QSO. Look around 080-090 kHz on the higher bands
and up from 1805 kHz on 160M.
3. NCCC NS Sprint Ladder. Every Thursday night local date. 0230-0259Z
Friday. 15, 20, 40, 80, 160M CW. Maximum power: 100W. One/one kHz
QSY rule. Exchange: both calls, #, name, SPC. No same band dupes
allowed. Look around 040 to 046 kHz on the higher bands and up from
1815 kHz on 160M.
4. K1USN Slow Speed Test, 2000-2100Z Friday. 160-10M CW. Maximum
speed: 20 WPM. Exchange: Name + SPC. Mults count per band. Look
around 029 to 053 kHz on the higher bands and near 1820 kHz on 160M. You
can use your NAQP CW contest module, but you will need to add any
multipliers from outside North America (and Hawaii) and recompute your
score.
5. ARRL International DX Contest, CW. This is one of the "Big Six." 48
hours of Sat/Sun UTC dates. 160-10M CW. Exchange: RST + SPC or RST +
power for stations outside US and Canada. Hawaii and Alaska count as DX
and may be worked by US/VE stations. There is a club aggregate score
competition, so be sure to show your club in your Cabrillo header and to
select your club name from the pull down menu on the site for log
submission.
6. Flying Pigs QRP Club February Run for the Bacon. 2300Z Sunday to
0100Z Monday. 160-10M CW. 5W maximum power. Exchange: RST + SPC + FP#
or power.
7. K1USN Slow Speed Test (SST). 0000-0100Z Monday (Sunday night local
date). See #4 above.
8. Straight Key Century Club Week Day Sprint (SKS). 0000-0200Z Wed
(Tuesday night local date). 160-6M CW. Use a mechanical key. Exchange:
RST, SPC, Name, SKCC# or "NONE."
9. QRP Fox Hunt Tuesday night local date, 0200-0330Z Wed. 40M. Two
foxes will be calling between 7030 and 7050 kHz. They are scheduled to
bee NK6A, DON, CA and WD4CFN, STEVE, TN. Don should be fairly easy, but
the skip zone will have to be short for us to work Steve. I could hear
TN stations the whole 90 minutes this week, however. If you can hear
them both, go for WD4CFN first before the skip goes too long. See #1
above for exchange and other rules.
10. A! CW Ops Club (a Japanese club) AWT Test. 1200Z to 1300Z every
Wed. 160-10M CW. Exchange: RST + Name. This one-hour test brings out
a lot of JA operators, but you can work anyone anywhere.
11. CWOps Club CWT Tests. Every Wed/Thur. Four separate one-hour
tests. 1300Z and 1900Z Wed. 0300Z and 0700Z Thurs. Exchange: Name +
CWOps# or SPC. Some ops who have been CW Academy students will sent
"CWA" instead of # or SPC. 160-10M CW. Look around 024 to 053 kHz on
the higher bands and up from 1815 kHz on 160M.
Hope everyone has a good week and weekend. Good luck in ARRL DX CW. 73,
John, K4BAI, for SECC.
