This Week's Contests:
1. NCCC RTTY Sprint. Every Thursday, local date. 0145-0215Z Friday.
15, 20, 40, 80, 160M RTTY. 100W max power. One/one kHz QSY rule.
Exchange: both calls, #, name, SPC. Same band dupes OK after one
intervening QSO. Look around 080-090 kHz on the upper bands and up from
1805 kHz on 160M. This could be a good way to check out your RTTY set
up before the big WPX contest on the weekend.
2. QRP Fox Hunt, Thursday night local date. 80M. 0200-0330Z Friday.
Two QRP Foxes will be calling between 3550 and 3570 kHz. They will be
NC4RT, RANDY, NC and N9AW, JERRY, WI. We should have a good chance at
both of them. Exchange: RST, SPC, Name, Power. Work only the two
foxes and do not spot their frequencies.
3. NCCC NS Sprint Ladder. Every Thursday, local date. 0230-0259Z
Friday. 15, 20, 40, 80, 160M RTTY. 100W max power. One/one kHz QSY
rule. Exchange: both calls, #, name, SPC. Look around 040 to 046 kHz
on the upper bands and up from 1815 kHz on 160M. If, after NA Sprint CW
last weekend you want to practice up for the summer sprint, this is the
place to do it.
4. K1USN Slow Speed Test. Friday, 2000-2100Z. Max speed 20 WPM. 160-10M
CW. Exchange: Name + SPC. Look around 029 to 052 kHz on the upper
bands and around 1820 kHz on 160M. You can use your NAQP CW contest
module, but add any countries worked outside NA as multipliers and
recompute your score.
5. CQ WorldWide RTTY Contest. 48 hours of weekend UTC. 30 hours max
operating time for single ops with 60 minutes minimum operating time.
Exchange: RST + serial #. Work everyone. There is a club aggregate
score competition, so be sure to put your club in your Cabrillo log
header. For SECC, type "South East Contest Club."
6. Asia-Pacific Spring Sprint. 40 and 20M CW. 1100-1300Z Saturday.
Six/one kHz QSY rule. Exchange: RST + serial #. Work only A-P
stations. SO1R only.
7. Straight Key Century Club Week End Sprintathon. 1200Z Saturday to
2400Z Sunday. Use a mechanical key. 160-6M CW. Exchange: RST, SPC,
Name, SKCC# or "NONE." Bonus points for the number of tubes used by the
stations you work. Sign name/x with x being the number of tubes in use
if you have a tube rig.
8. Dutch PACC Contest. 1200Z Sat to 1200Z Sun. 160-10M CW, SSSB.
Exchange: RS(T) + serial # or Dutch province. Work only Dutch stations.
9. K1USN Slow Speed Sprint. 0000-0100Z Monday (Sunday night local
date). See #4 above.
10. Colorado QRP Club (CQC) Winter QSO Party. 0100-0259Z Monday
(Sunday night local date). 20, 40, 80M CW. Max powr 5W. Exchange: RST
+ SPC. Bonus points for QSOs with N0CQC and W0CQC.
11. Four States QRP Group Second Sunday Sprint. 0100-0300Z Monday.
160-10M CW/SSB. Max power 5W CW and 10W SSB. Exchange: RST + SPC +
4S# or power. Most activity seems to be around 14060, 7122, and 3564 kHz.
12. QRP Fox Hunt. Tuesday night local date. 0200-0330Z Wed. See #2
above. Frequency range is 7030-7050 kHz and the foxes are scheduled to
be NR3Z, MARTY, PA and N7CQR, DAN, OR. We will have a fair chance fromm
our area to work both of the foxes.
13. A1 Club AWT. Every Week. 1200-1259Z. 160-10M CW. Exchange: RST
+ name. Lot of Japanese hams QRV in this one. Right now, 80 and 40M
are possible, particularly 40M and 20M is probably a long shot.
14. CWOps Club CWT Tests. Every Wed/Thur. Four separate one-hour
contests. 1300Z and 1900Z Wed and 0300Z and 0700Z Thursday. Exchange:
Name + CWOps # or SPC. Look around 023 to 053 kHz on the higher bands
and lower on 160M. Lots of activity and good place to practice search
and pounce and running on a frequency.
15. Flying Pigs QRP Club Walk for the Bacon on 20M has one hour Wed and
one hour Thurs nights. Consult the rules.
Hope everyone has a good week and weekend. 73, John, K4BAI, for SECC.
