[Skimmertalk] CPU needs for skimmer server

Hello all,

I finaly decided myself for an active antenna from Clifton laboratories
and the results are great !

Noz I have a small issue with my computer ! I'm getting CPU limited. The
computer isn't that old (3 years ) but back then I bought an E5200 dual
core that now is usually at about 70% to 90% of use. As I use the computer
also for logging and web browsing I would like to give it a kick.

The Skimmer Server page mentions an I7 2600 : Is such a powerfull CPU
really needed if your antenna farm isn'l like the one from W3LPL, K3LR or
K1TTT ? :-)

One the last Japanse contest weekend I recorded about 5000 spots on the
Sunday. My skimmer doesn't seem to drop any callsign and it says that 100%
of the stations are decoded.

Any feedback is welcome before I run out and go buy a new CPU - motherboard
- memory bundle !.
