At 0450 UTC sunspot group #11036 located near S27W45 released a small C7.2
solar flare, the second largest of solar cycle 24. The solar flare was not
geoeffective (Earth directed) so any potential coronal mass ejection (CME)
released would not impact Earth's magnetic field.
The solar flux index values for December 21st were 84.9 82.7 81.2 and the
sunspot number 42.
