[W4HM Spaceweather] Significant Geomagnetic Storm Underway

For my amateur radio operator and SWL friends around the world.

A significant geomagnetic storm began at approximately 0600 UTC this morning 
and continues at 2230 UTC. The Kp (planetary) index has reached a level of 
7, which is strong geomagnetic storming.

At the mid latitudes the K has reached a 6, which is moderate geomagnetic 
storming, at high latitudes an 8, which is severe geomagnetic storming.

If you live in the northern U.S. or any latitude north of 40 deg north and 
have clear skies you may see some visible aurora tonight.

Basically LF, MF and HF radio wave propagation has been wrecked, while VHF 
radio wave propagation has been enhanced.
