PTO's .....etc.

Well I have read the messages about the PTO's for Tentec. This is what info I have
gathered from TT itself. The units seem to be and are the same at least from the Century
21 on. The unit in my C21 works just fine, but my Corsair is a diffrent story
altogether. Between the backlash and the instability in the PTO the problem seems to be
in the grounding "fingers" on the PTO shaft itself rather than the unit as a whole. If
you take the time to clean and reseat the fingers the backlash and instability will
disapppear. Now if we can just come up with a better way to ground the PTO shaft in the
Corsair I think that rebuilding the PTO will be unnecessary. At the present time I get
about 2 years between complete rebuilds on the PTO and quite frankly its really a pain
to do. Since I work CW only the frequency shift and backlash are more prominent than
those of you that work ssb. Well thats my 2 cents worth. But whatever the outcome my
Corsair and C21 are really great CW rigs.
