[TenTec] Modify Drake L-7 for QSK and use with OMNI VI??

Was wondering if anyone out there has ever modified a Drake L-7 to work
QSK? Would prefer the mod to be an internal one and use it with my OMNI
VI+ (Option 3.)
I know of Ameritron's QSK-5 external box, but it's external and a bit
costly for me (that's why I'm still running a 16 year old amp, with one
tube an original.)

Also while on the subject of the L-7, has anyone ever replaced the
ceramic part of the bandswitch in that amp? Somehow I managed to
virtually melt one of the bandswitch contacts by either loading up while
amp was set to wrong band or possibly the bandswitch wasn't fully engaged
in an actual band position (between two bands)-causing one helluvan
arc!! Got it going on 160, 80, 40, but higher bands still NG. Was able to
purchase from good old Drake the ceramic part of the bandswitch.
Electrically, looks like no problem. Mechanically, to dismantle-looks a
bit dicey!! Any suggestions/experience out there? Don't tell me to buy a
TenTec Amp-would buy a Titan if I could, but then I wouldn't eat for a
while-can't afford to lose that much weight!!
