I just made the biggest mistake of my life. Traded my Argonaut station
complete with amplifier for an SGC 2020. Look before you leap !!! The
2020 just came back from the factory and whoever did the soldering work
mist have used a 100 watt iron. The thing is so far out of adjustment
its barely useable and the CW note looks like a 1950ties era Russian
homebrew. There's one born every minute and I guess it was my time.( No
reflection on the fellow who traded it to me it was all my doing). If
anyone believes the OCT QST article regarding the 2020 I'd like to sell
him a bridge. The Argo , restricted to 5 watts without linear, was a far
superior performer (ARGO 509). The SCAF filtering on the 2020 is
useless, any close in signal will interfere with the signal you are
trying to copy. The instruction manual is useless when it comes to how
to adjust anything yourself., and components are not identified on the
PC. I finally figured out how to balance the upper and lower sideband so
they were useful . Oh Well!!!
Be faithful to your old technology ten tec and it will be faithful to
you.......joe
