I've found that the DSP filter does reduce receiver noise, but puts its
own back. I'm happier with a passive low pass filter on the speaker.
I've one that has switchable cutoff frequencies in 2:1 steps from about
450 Hz up. Crank out a 400 Hz beat note and that filter and there's
nothing but pure tone, no noise.
