Well, Happy Holidays and anticipations for the
future for those wishing that CW testing for
amateurs would go away:

>From the British magazine,"Morsum Magnificat"
 Nov. 1999

"The Administrative Council of the International Amateur
Radio Union has agreed to wording of proposed changes
to the ITU Radio Regulations which govern amateur radio
internationally. The proposed changes, suggested by the Radio
Society of Great Britain at the IARU Region 1 Conference
in September, will be submitted to the ITU-R Working Party
in time for adoption before the particular World Radio
Conference which will review these regulations. The
Administrative Council has noted the possibility that this
"could be as early as WRC 2003". In relation to the Amateur
Morse test, the effect will be to give national administrations
discretion to include or not include knowledge of the Morse
code as a requirement for the issue of an amateur radio
license for H.F. operation."

However, CW will continue as a favorite mode of amateur
operation for many; we must hope the SSB mode will
continue to be limited to certain sectors of the HF bands,
and not expanded to cover the entire band allocations
below 30 mHz.
