Hello to all of you...

I have just bought a Omni VI plus and since I am new to the Ten Tec I would
like to
hear your comments to my 'problems'.

I always used the TR7 Drake. (it is not a problem - great rig)

When I started to play with Omni VI I discovered that it is much more noisy
rig then the TR7. I did not understand why until I started to play with the
RF coontrol
knob. I always had the RF to max on TR7 and never had a slighty problem with
signal distortions (15 years of use). I understand that some of you
frequently use that
knob.
I turned the Omni RF knob a little back (one 'hour')
from '5 to '4 clock and discovered that the reception is now very good,
as good or better then on the DRAKE TR7.

So I disconnected the antenna and listened to the audio.
First -- the RF gain to MAX '5 clock - I could hear some high freq noise or
a white noise.
Second -- I turned the RF gain back to the point that the noise disseapred.
The knob pointed just above the '4 clock seting.

Now I have a question to you. Can I temper the RF gain in the way that the
noise is not bothering ?. I could change the inpit stage a little bit and the
rig would sound good again. Does any body have experianced that ?
Does any body fix that problem ?

I Would appreciate some help.
Are there more smart tips for the newcommer to the TenTec ???

Best regards Piotr
