Tom,
I have done a retensioning many times on connectors in other instruments, and
it is definitely a fix for a "Set contact".  These connectors were similar to
those used by Ten Tec and other manufactureres.

The followup with a true good treatment with DeOxit or similar surely will
help the oxidation issues.

Even gold manages to form a film from dust in the environment, and must be
cleaned eventually.
