[TenTec] Omni 6 passband shifts with heat???

Saddled up my Ten-Tec twins (Omni 6+/Centurion) for a
ride this weekend in the WPX cw contest.  It was a
blast, but noticed some quixotic behavior at times by
the Omni.  

In the heat of the battle (yes, she did get fairly
warm to the touch), the center point of the pass band
seemed to shift - the PBT control needed adjustment
from about my normal 11 o'clock over to 1 o'clock. 
Before I realized what had happened, it just seemed
like I was dead in the water with a dramatic loss of
sensitivity (the vast majority of the time was spent
with 250/250 filters engaged).

The heat situation was exacerbated from "running"
mode, i.e., calling cq or qso'ing every 10 or 15 secs.

Any other cw contesters out there notice similar
phenomena, or any other comments?
