Of course 2 minutes after I sent that message my brain kicked in, I think I 
have it solved now.. Looks like there is residual data (of a crummy nature) 
in the rig the very first time I go request the info. I simply put a dummy 
request in at the beginning of the program and throw away the data 
returned..  *Sigh*
