[TenTec] newbie question

My personal preference is for a ham bands only rig.  I have plenty of other
GC receivers around for SWLing.

I am trying to decide if it is better for a transciever to NOT have a

coverage receiver. There seems to be a couple of schools of thought on this.
Some say the rig will perform better on the ham-only-bands if it doesn't
have
GC. Some like to have GC to SWL and it also seems to help on the resale
value
somewhat but at the cost of ham-band-only performance when you are
"hamming"!
Is this true? I would like to hear what everyones opinion on this is.
