[TenTec] 679 problem:

I have a recently acquired 679 internal keyer which does not insert dits
between the dahs.  Both paddles held simulaneously produce only dahs... 
I wouldn't think this is normal.  Any way to fix this?  Chip / circuit
upgrade?  I'd like to put some effort into salvaging it before I resort
to putting an aftermarket non-TT keyer in the rig.  

Any tips/advice would be great.
