In most applications ESPECIALLY mobile it is best to have the "protection"
as close to the power source as possible.  This is to protect against
problems with the power cable as well as the rig.  One never knows when
something may cause a short in the wiring.  Having a fuse, or circuit
breaker, located at the "radio end" of the cable would NOT be much
protection under such circumstances!
