Jim,

Are you sure that you both haven't been sipping too many Mai Tai's? I asked
locally and people told me that my audio was good with no reports of
distortion. I can only suggest trying a reset and also maybe trying the
back up battery reset.

By the way, your message did make it through last night. Maybe the gods of
the ether intercepted your email. Band conditions have not been the
greatest.

73,
John

Subject: [TenTec] SSB audio and 1.366

Attempted to post this last evening, does not seem
to have gone out, so here again; apologies if already
seen, but this is a very real problem, we think, hi.

Two of us out here in KH6 land have just spent around
an hour and a half trying to get our audio sounding as
it did yesterday! We each downloaded and are now
using 1.366 firmware. Initially both our audios were
distorted. We have fiddled with just about every audio
parameter possible: AGC, EQ, mike gain, SP. Still not
convinced our sound is really clean! What are we doing
incorrectly? Does anyone else notice a SIGNIFICANT
deterioration in audio when first going to 1.366 with no
parameter adjustment? We are both using the Ten Tec
Heil Studio 1 mikes.

BTW, we are about 340 miles apart: he on the Big Island of
Hawaii, and I am way up here on Kauai to the NW of him.
We each set our Orion's differently and then exactly the same;
still not really convinced things are clean in audio land. Also
we were on 40 meters, NVIS propagation, no QRM, only
little QSB/N.

Really seems as if something has crept into the latest update
that was not intended.

73, Jim KH7M
