[TenTec] One complicated radio!

One size does not fit all, either in clothes, radios, or much of anything else. Since every operators conditions; antenna, noise floor, desired use, and of course those all important personal tastes; are different one set of parameters force everyone to fit in one mold.

It takes a bit of study, and some experimenting, but you CAN get the Orion to suit your tastes. And from your radio list, I would start by setting the TAPS to somewhere in the 30-50 range to soften the filter skirts a bit. Or if you prefer the Collins, even a bit less than that. A bit more AGC hang will improve things for many users, personally, I prefer a bit less. Sound complex? Yes, but!

The latest CQ has a picture of one of my first recievers, bought in the original packing from Fair Radio. It was a great rig in its day, but I sure would not want to go back to those days.
