Steve...
I see it as the distinction between shopping for months for about 15 boxes
of pieces and parts, and then spending another month on the phone with help
desks (that for all practical purposes, don't speak english) to get them to
work with each other...and there is a good chance they won't!!...  Then
searching the web for updated drivers and patches to fix problems.
vs..
Going to CompUSA and plunking a grand on the table and bringing home a plug
'n play 'puter, ready to go.
Kinda like when you built your own in Heathkit days, you didn't blow your
own glass to fabricate tubes...but it was still called "building your rig"
(yes, from a kit)
