Ref to Larry, W6UBs comments on several issues about the Orion.

Larry these are worthwhile comments, well thought out and helpful. I know
you to not only have an Orion but other rigs on the table and are very
active on the air. Thanks.

It's fun to be part of a rig which has the manufacturers involved in the
improvements and fixes, but to have the customers contributing to it is a
special attraction I'm glad to be witnessing.

It's interesting to hear the comments about the Orion and the Elecraft K2
comparisons. I have one of each and can say some of the comments are on
target while others are a bit shaded. This K2 has worked 312 countries in
less than 4 years (10W) with close to 300 on each SSB and CW and 8BDXCC. It
's a super rig and the folks at Elecraft are outstanding.

The Orion replaced an Omni VI+ now in a museum which was about the best I've
ever operated on CW. The Orion is better than the Omni VI+ or the K2
without question. Could I work anything more on the Orion... perhaps not,
but there is enough doubt that I'll keep Orion! The low end of 40 CW during
the CQWW contest was a place where the Orion was head and shoulders above
the K2 with the strong and close- in signals against the weak ones. No
comparison. But I didn't buy the K2 for such operating!! Love the little
rig.

They are both keepers, both surprise me often, they are both being improved
constantly at little or no expense, I have a voice in the improvements, know
the companies listen and take action, AND they are made in the USA. I know
well it's a global economy, but it does give me a warm feeling to work a JA
using a Collins or Drake (there are some!) with these rigs. It's icing on
the cake.

Thanks again Larry for the sobering and professional look at some of the
Orion issues. These reflectors offer a great opportunity to exchange ideas,
vent, offer constructive criticism, operating information/tips (Tks Bill
W4ZV, Carl N4PY, Scott W4PA and many others) as well as create a path to
Ten-Tec with excellent ideas for our Orions.
