I must be old.

I never adopted the name "Elmer" for any "teacher" or  "mentor" that ever 
helped me....
Some one (in CQ or QST) started using that moniker about 25 years ago.....
but not ME...

Not that Elmer isn't an OK name.....  it just doesn't connote anything 
special to me...
Is it supposed to mean "nerdy?" Or "geeky?"   Or some kind of hermit that 
is glued to his
ham shack 24/7?     (Or Elmer Fudd...  "befuddled?")    Sheeesh!!

"Mentor" it was, is, and ever shall be.....
