Hi Jim,
I used the ARGO V with DIGIPAN 2.0 with no trouble whatever. You might
want to try this software. I assume you are using the optional fan when
running the ARGO at full output when operating PSK31. Set the microphone
gain at minimum and the output of the sound card as low as possible. If
I recall my VOX setting was at about 6. Then bring up the mic gain - not
much - just until the rig kicks into action. You need to play around
with it a bit. Then if you don't have a PSK meter get a report from
someone right away on the signal quality. Also if you have another
receiver you can get an idea of the signal quality but you probably know
this already. DIGIPAN 2.0 works well also with my Jupiter and Orion.
It's the only software I have ever used so I can only speak to its
operation.

Subject: [TenTec] PSK31 & the Argonaut V
Hello to the group:
I am a proud owner of a new Argonaut V. This past weekend I hooked up a
serial
cable from my laptop to the rig, and the aux cable to the mic input and
speaker
output jacks on that laptop. The Argo instructions say that is all I
need to
work
PSK31.
No problem running Ham Radio Deluxe to control the rig. Everything
works FB.
I do
wish the Argonaut had an instruction for controlling volume from the
software.
However I can't get the PSK31 program that comes with HRD to reliably
switch
the
Argo from RX to TX and back again. I selected "soundcard control of
PTT" in
the
program. I'm trying to use the laptop soundcard to activate the rig's
vox.
I have the
Argo VOX set for low gain and the ANTIVOX set high, as advised in the
manual.
Most of the time, the TX putton on the PSK31 screen doesn't function.
Occasionally,
I've gotten it to key the rig to transmit and send my message. However,
when
I
hit "escape", the Argo just "locks up" and won't switch back to receive
(or
do anything, for that matter). I have to turn the Argo off and back on
again
to reset it to get it to receive again.
Has anyone else experienced this? What's the fix? I may be making this
more
difficult than need be. I'd like to hear what setup other Argo owners
are
using to
run both Ham Radio Deluxe and PSK31 together.
TIA/73, Jim K5HO
