Thanks Mike for the reply.  No, this one does not have the amplification switch on bottom.

I believe I have found the problem.  When I upgraded the rig to ver 1.08, year or so ago, I did not increase the mic gain pot on the logic board enough.  It seems to be a lot better now.  Have good ALC at 10 o'clock.  With the additional foam over the element my mouth was not as close to the  desk mic as was with the hand mic.
