That's assuming you are in full automatic mode. In this mode the tuner
detects RF and a high SWR and tunes. I'm used to using radios where you can
invoke a tune cycle by pushing a TUNE button.

Before there were memories, the tuner could cycle through some 65536
combinations in a few seconds, checking the SWR at each one. It should be
able to scan a couple of hundred memories in a few milliseconds.

The newer LDG tuners do record the frequency, but the older ones, such as
the AT-11MP do not as they don't have circuitry for measuring that.
