Recently I went back to earlier versions of the Orion Firmware just to see how they worked.  I started with 1.367 which was released in early 04.  The sweep worked smoothly in this version,  but other functions were not so smooth.  The sent cw was choppy, QSK not really great, and I had a transmit crash while running the sweep in cw mode.  

Then I went back to the latest version released.  Love the way the RF gain works, QSK is better and  the sent cw sounds just great.   Other improvements were evident as I came back from the older version to the newer. 

I have come to realize that the Orion is getting better with each update.  I don't want to go back to the way the rig was a year ago because so many improvements have been made since then.  

If we can just hang in for a while longer I think we will see a really great rig with no or few bugs left.  This progress has taken time and that is where the problem is.....time.....some of us may not have much left since we are getting older, and would like to have a correctly operating rig right out of the box.  

But the Orion is a totally  NEW  kind of rig from all the rest on the market and this kind of pioneering  IS  taking a lot of TIME.    
                       
IF we can be patient and wait for this rig to be perfected,  then we will eventually be rewarded.   

SO....... the  Orion has already come a long way from those older versions.......just a little more time.  Let see what is going to happen next!
