Where was this rumor started? Heck, they have been trying to get V2.0
working for the past eight months...are they just going to jump over v2.0?

No, they finally sorted that one out.  The Orion uses a slightly
unique ssb-encoding algorithm in the DSP and will sound slightly wierd
if you don't receive the signal on another Orion.  This will be fixed
in firmware v3.0, early autumn.
