RE: Untied Parcel Service... My gunsmith had an incident with a UPS driver where he was waiting for a delivery of a dozen cases of ammunition, which requires a signature on a federal form... He tracked the packages... The day of delivery he left a note on the door that he works nights and was sleeping, and to bang on the door and he would answer, and he went to sleep on the couch which is all of 8 feet from the door... When he got up there was a notice of "unable to deliver" stuck to the door... He is a light sleeper and did not believe he missed the driver knocking... Next day he set his alarm and was up before the usual time the UPS truck goes through the neighborhood... He hid behind the curtain at the front window when the UPS truck pulled up... The driver jumped out, no cases of ammo, ran up the porch steps and then right back down the steps and was hustling to the truck... Jim opened the door and yelled at the driver... Then pulled the new "Unable to deliver" off
the door... The driver of course, insisted he had knocked and waited... Jim just looked at him and quietly said, "I was watching you the whole time!" and went back in the house (it was snowing and he was barefoot and in his jammies)...
The driver went back to the truck, set the cases of ammo out on the curb and drove away...
Later that day when I stopped by to pick up my case of ammo Jim asked me what I thought he should do, I suggested he do nothing at that point... That 99% of UPS folks work like dogs <my driver is a peach of a guy who has even tracked me to the local restaurant to deliver drugs> and that this clinker would hang himself sooner or later... UPS drivers work under duress and a tiny few just do not respond appropriately...
Jim later commented he was seeing a new driver on his route and that he had not heard a word from BATF about the federal form...
