[TenTec] orion with 2.055 firmware -- headphones?

I use  good external speakers on all my rigs.  I have a lot of  hearing loss 
form stuff overs the years so I find that 7 or 11 inch metal cased  rca or 
realistic speakers or even those old stereo speakers give me better   
"hear-ability"
 they have larger speakers, sound better and most of all they point  the 
sound at my ears, not at the ceiling , floor or bottom of the shelf.  I  get head 
aches when I wear one of my 8 or 9 headphones very long and live  by my self 
so the noise doesn't bother anyone..

noise in the background, I could use more "guts."  Of course I  never do any
serious operating when the speaker is in use, but I wonder if  anyone else
has noticed a tendency to this audio breakup at moderate to  high volume
levels?

You are  correct.  The new version has regressed back to the occasional   
scratchy distorted audio that was present in early versions of  the
software.  I 
found that turning the volume control up and down  again  usually will fix
the 
problem.  Seems worse at narrow  bandwidths and NR on  but that is just my
gut 
feeling.
