I don't think that's entirely true.  Nobody here appears to be such an
expert, since anyone who was would have already done what you proposed :-)

It does little harm to poke at what you have to see how well it really
works.  The ARRL lab doesn't have the market cornered, and it's an
opportunity to learn something.  And it also does no harm to always ask for
more ...
