[TenTec] UCW and LCW

John,

I'm not an Orion owner, but if it's the same as most other rigs .....

When switched to UCW the receiver will pick up CW signals that are higher than the displayed frequency
When switched to LCW the receiver will pick up signals that are lower than the displayed frequency

So using your example, when you're tuned to 7019 UCW you can hear signals at 7020 because they're higher. If you tune to 7021 and select LCW you'll hear the same signal because it's now lower.

I think I'm saying the same as everyone else but in a slightly different way :)

Hope this helps,
.

I'm a bit puzzled by these two O-2 modes. When UCW is selected, the
lower CW sideband is audible; that is, if zero-beat is 7020, to hear the
signal one tunes down to 7019 etc. When LCW is chosen, one must tune UP
from zero-beat to hear the signal.

Isn't this the opposite of what LCW and UCW should mean?
