I believe the Argo V DOES use diode switching.  The
pin diodes used are exotic 1N4007.  Don't laugh
apparently these off the shelf diodes have PIN diode
characteristics.

well in defense, I always thought they used diodes or
"electronic
switching" for that "smooth, clean QSK" they are
famous for.

I am gonna look in me 516 and surprise meself! (smile)
