I've owned two Omni VI+'s.  The first one was a '97 vintage and most  
boards had through the board soldered components.  The TXCO was added  
by TT or a previous owner.  My 2000 VI+ had the TXCO built in and most  
boards were SMT.  I believe later VI+'s had a different BFO circuit  
which stopped a bit of drift.  Both rigs were great.  Check out N5NA's
