[TenTec] Ten Tec Advertizing

I have a bunch of Ten Tecs myself. I love them!!
But... for very different reasons then most everyone else here.
I like the early '70s "feel" of the rigs. Big analog S meter, large display,
no menus, large knobs. Needless to say, I have no interest in the newest
releases....and HATE those cross-needle meters!! Trying to compete
directly with the technology and manufacturing process of the offshore rigs
I think is a deathwish. Keeping some of the simplicity that some seek, and
can no longer find might be a wise business decision!!

Subject: [TenTec] Ten Tec Advertizing

Hello all, this probably won't get posted as I am not a member of the list
and my last thread on TT and the rest of us got skipped over, but here
goes...

First of all, I love Ten Tec for 2 reasons...their service on the phone, and
customer support on the repair level. They have always treated me right in
these 2 areas.

However, I have noticed a bit of an attitude with Ten Tec that I feel is
holding them back from a bigger share of the market. They seem to have the
attitude that 'we know best what's good for you, rather than the time tested
tradition of rule#1: the customer is always right, rule #2: if the customer
is wrong, refer back to rule #1. They seem to skimp on the seemingly
trivial, yet seriously in demand things like real time spectrum scopes that
make the Ic** rigs extremely more popular. Also, They touted the advantages
of a software updateable rig, and yet are painfully slow to non existent in
bringing out software updates in a timely manner, unlike the I,K,Y,E brands
who keep up with the customer demands.

I really think if Ten Tec is going to survive in the ham radio market for
the long run, they really need to do more market research and re tailor
their business model to the Golden business rules of rule #1 & rule #2
mentioned above.

(why should it have taken them until now to put a cross needle meter in an
antenna tuner?)

just my 02 cents worth. 73, Todd - KT0DD
