Roger

I have bought and sold rigs on ebay, with and without paypal. there is always a risk when buying anything anywhere, even at hamfest.. You really need to look at the feedback of the person and see if they have a good feedback..

as far as paypal goes you dont need an account to send money on paypal if you use a credit card, which will give you a cusion of protection. with paypal there is always a protection to the buyer more then the seller..

Hope this helps some.

Philosophy of Buying:

It is unwise to pay to much, but it is unwise too pay too little. When you pay too much you loose a little bit of money, that is all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing you bought it to do. The common law of business balance, prohibits paying a little and getting a lot, it cannot be done.
If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run and if you do that, you will have enough to pay for a better service in the first place.

Subject: [TenTec] Buying on EBay

I am constantly seeing rigs for sale on EBay. As tempted as I have been, I have been reluctant to bid on them for a couple of reasons. One is that I have never used PayPal and the other is the risk of getting burned. Would I be better off keeping an eye out on E Ham or QRZ? Does anyone on the list have any recent experience along these lines? Of course, I had to pass on a great deal with a fellow Montana ham a while back (Corsair II) and I still regret that. Oh well.......
Thanks and 73s  Rip  W7RIP
