Like you, I found my BSEE program to be a 16 hour a day process for
five years (coop at the Univ of Cincy, so it took an extra year). And,
like you, I've been studying SOMETHING nearly every day since I
graduated.
I strongly agree that a solid eduction teaches you HOW to learn, gives
you a BASE upon which to build, and, perhaps most important, it gives
you a great BS filter.
Because there are no real college programs for pro audio or
broadcasting, there are many good guys working in those fields who, by
necessity, are self taught. Now a senior citizen, I've run into a fair
number of good ones, who have, through a combination of some formal
education and a lot of self study, turned themselves into very good
engineers. I've also run into a lot of guys who have not, but who
think that, by virtue of their grey hair and job survival, are
experts.
