I rather think it is an answer to the TS-590.

I read John Henry's comments as a hint at more radios to come, with
similar architecture.  So I'd hazard a guess at a separate high end
offering from TT sometime in the next 18 months (or sooner) with dual
rx capability, IF output, etc that would compete with the K3 and serve
as the virtual Orion III.
