[TenTec] 1253 Receiver kit

Does anyone have experience with the 1253 regenerative receiver kit?  I 
am well aware of the limitations of regenerative receivers, having built 
a simple vacuum tube one when I was a kid, but the 1253 demo on you tube 
by NG9D  sounds really good for a simple receiver.  Also, check out his 
bank of 1300 series QRP rigs? He has a stack of them for every band. Cool!
