This thread is very illuminating. I've had my O2 for five years now and 
still feel as if I'm using about 10% of its capabilities. I generally 
just turn it on, work some CW, and turn it off --- a little contesting, 
and a (very) little DX. It's great to be able to benefit from the 
experiences of those who are more intense users.

What's the argument for NOT setting AF gain at its maximum, and 
adjusting RF gain according to the received signal's strength?
