Rick,

I have to agree. Even with just casual operating (I'm not a contester) I've 
seen more than one situation where other stations were complaining 
about "splatter" or QRM (on both SSB and CW) which wasn't noticeable when 
listening with rigs like the Corsairs/Paragon/Omni V etc. While 
a "competition" grade rig isn't needed in my case, I do (to use your term) 
prefer to have something "good enough" for the situation at hand. (Note that 
I've had my hands on some "not good enough" rigs over the years at various 
club events and Field Day and understand exactly what Rob is talking about.)
