[TenTec] Anyone using LP-PAN with Orion/RX366?

I agree with John's analysis and found the spike 11 kHz off the centre frequency when using the RX-366 to be  too much of a compromise.  I also reverted back to using the 9MHz output from the main receiver.

Floyd - I have the Orion connected to LP-Pan via the 9MHz IF in the main receiver. It works acceptably but has odd dips in the display around the selected frequency. They vary depending on the roofing filter selected. Most folks aren't bothered by this and the dips are eliminated if you have the hardware noise blanker on. But, I wanted better, like I have with my K3 and LP-Pan.
I bought the RX-366 and used it with my LP-Pan with these results:
- no dips, but a hump in the display near the selected frequency. - a significant spike on the display about 11 kHz below the selected frequency. - the RX frequency is that of the sub receiver so you have to have the sub-receiver track the main receiver for point and click QSY. N4PY software can handle that for you.Nothing is perfect. In the end I could tolerate the shortcomings of the 9MHz main receiver IF better than the RX-366 issues and returned the RX-366.
You may feel differently. 73 de K1ESE

Barry - do you know if the output level of the RX366 if different from what you get when using the IF tap point on the main receiver? I've been using LP-Pan/NaP3 fed from a tap on the main receiver through the Clifton Labs buffer amp. I set the gain on that buffer to either 3 or 6 dB when I built it and that's proven to be a good level. I have the newer LP-Pan with the preamp, but I run with it off as the additional gain just isn't needed. If I had built the buffer with zero dB gain, the preamp may have been useful.

Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 Is anyone out there successfully using LP-PAN pan adapter with the
9MHz output of the RX366 subreceiver? Are you using a buffer amp on
the if output or using the optional add-on LP-PAN preamp (as suggested
by John Henry)? Any other comments/tips appreciated. Thanks & 73,
