Well, of course they should but that doesn't mean they will. In the ~40
years I practiced law, I experienced quite a few instances where the police
declined to become involved in what had been a clear criminal act, deciding
it was a civil matter, a dispute between the parties.
The police are very good, and experienced, at handling liquor store
robberies, 7-11 stick-ups, murders etc but sometimes these white collar
crimes bewilder them, especially if it is across jurisdictions. They have
sufficient business handliong violent crimes and do not want to squander
resources chasing wild geese.
