[TenTec] OMNI VII ??

Since nobody else commented on this, I will task my grey cells and comment
from memory. Several years ago, Ten-Tec re-designed its standard 100w final
PA circuit, switching from bipolar to FET transistors. This change was due
to unavailability of the bipolar transistors, not because of a need to clean
up the transceiver.
Having said that, it may be that the FET PA is now slightly cleaner than the
40+ year old bipolar design.
Maybe someone else has additional information.
When? That's a good question. I would guess it to be after 2010 because I
believe the first Eagles still had bipolar transistors.

Regarding any changes during production, John Henry has mentioned that they
made a change to clean up the transmitter output more at one point. I don't
know what the date or serial number was when that occurred, but since I
bought mine new in 2014 I assume it has that improvement. Other than that, I
am aware only of several software updates that were made.

Hi- In the OMNI VII what is the receiver- similar or same as the Jupiter,
ORION I, ORION II or what? Has there been any hardware improvements in it
over the
years?
Thanks, 73 de Dave, K1OPQ
