[TenTec] Tuner Question

I have a nice 229A tuner that I just restrung with new nylon and elastic
cords.  I guess it tunes as well as it is going to work.  Question, is there
supposed to be a clear plastic piece behind the main opening to keep dust
out of area between the front and inside panels?
