[TenTec] SOTA RADIO - TT509

Thought it would have been in the 70s.

I owned a 515 for about 5 or 6 years.
Now that had one hot receiver; even better than the 509.
It was more or less a Triton IV.
I never got around to making a CW filter for it.

I sold it in 2010 before moving back to Germany.
BIG MISTAKE.  Should have kept it.

During the time I owned it, even though I had an Orion, a K2 and a few other
transceivers, the 515 was the one I used the most because 99% of the time
I'm just listening while doing other work.

Funny story, in 1976 our apartment was broken into in Berlin and we were
robbed of most of our good stuff. TV, Marantz stereo, YL's jewelry, etc.
But they did not take the Argonaut 505.  Guess it looked too much like a
toy.

1977. I did have the audio CW filter, which I later copied and gave as a
gift to my Dad for his 515, which I now have. The 509 and amp were sold at
the Indianapolis Hamfest in 1989 since we were going to move to Alaska.

With the walls around the valley at Yosemite though my little signal was
only answered by someone in San Francisco.

I did scare a Vet in the next campground one evening. I thought I had the
volume pretty low which may have actually added to the problem. He came over
saying he was glad it was real that he was hearing CW. He thought he was
having a flash back.
