Then its probably not the diode problem.  Have you tried operating the 
ALC, Process, and Drive controls to clean any dirt or corrosion from the 
pots? I periodically operate all the pots and switches on my Corsair II 
and ext VFO, just keep them clean. These old radios seem to get more 
problems from lack of use than from operation. TELCO jacks and switches 
had the same issue when not operated.
