[TenTec] POWERING SCOUT VIA BATTERY

Yes, I keep one of those in each car.  Safer than car-to-car jump
starts.  The ones I have are 12 Amp-hour and they will power the Scout
just fine.  I run my Scout at 30W output for cooler operation and
reduced current drain.  Works great!

Better to use a deep cycle battery. Rather than a wet cell or gel cell, I'd suggest the "AGM" (Absorbed Glass Mat) type battery or the LiFePO4 type. They have a higher energy density, though a higher cost than lead acid batteries.

This is an intelligent trickle charger that will not ultimately boil your battery dry like a conventional trickle charger. Typically about $20-25 bucks. Look up 'battery tender' on Amazon. (no connection, they just have a nice selection that will give you an idea what to look for at your neighborhood auto parts store)
