The answer is found in comparing the IF frequencies.
In the Scout, the Jones filter was working on 9 MHz.
In the Argonaut II it was at something like 45 MHz.
You have a much better shape factor at the lower frequency.

I thought the same thing. The Jones filter seems so much better in the Scout than in the Argonaut II
